GPS Fieldwork in Papua New Guinea - September to November 2003

Proposed networks - Sites observed - Timeseries

In 2003 we will be conducting fieldwork from September to November. During this time we intend to:

  • reobserve the newtork of sites in New Ireland and the Gazelle Peninsula
  • reobserve some existing sites in the Highlands first observed in 1993 by NMB
  • reobserve a network of GPS sites spanning the Bismarck Sea Seismic Lineation near Wewak
  • observe a new network of sites along the northern foothills of the Highlands and throughout the Sepik region
  • observe a new network of sites in the southeastern Highlands between Goroka, Lae and Port Moresby

  •   Western Highlands Network    Southeastern Highlands Network
Sites to be observed are shown in the figures above. Blue triangles: sites for which one good occupation has been made already; black squares: sites for which velocities have been estimated; red squares: proposed new sites without possible air access; red circles: proposed new sites with possible air access.
