Roads
Local hire of vehicles is possible at about K10 for every quarter of an hour.
MAF vehicle can be used during quiet times.
SITE FACILITIES
Power
Local Mini-hydro power runs most evenings, however many local businesses have
generators at other times. Solar panels recommended.
Shelter
Tent required for eqpt.
Accommodation
Trabulok guesthouse, run by Solumnok is located about 1 km SW of the station. A well equipped and clean
place to stay with bedding and cooking facilities provided. K35 per night
Trade stores in Telefomin are expensive
Security
K50 paid for 5 nights security in 2003
Labour
Local boys can provide security K10 per day, K15 per night
Communications
MAF at the terminal building has radio contact.
Adverse conditions
No adverse conditions in Telefomin. Local people are very friendly and peaceful, and there is no
crime problem of note. Evenings can be quite cool due to the elevation.
