Research interests

Experimental, modelling and analytical studies of gas-melt, gas-glass, and gas-mineral interactions on Earth and on the Moon
 
I am particularly interested in high temperature heterogeneous chemical reactions between volcanic gases with glasses and melts on Earth and the Moon. I study these processes by performing chemisorption experiments between SO2 gas and simple silicate glasses in the diopside – anorthite – albite system at temperatures from 600 to 1000 °C, at atmospheric pressures and reaction times from 10 minutes to two weeks. Furthermore, I am modelling lunar volcanic gases and metal transport and deposition from these gases using thermochemical modelling and by performing degassing experiments on analogue lunar pyroclastic glasses.
