My research interests lie broadly in buoyancy-driven flows, spanning fundamental processes that include convection, instability and mixing, wave dynamics and the interaction of flow with topography. I make use of laboratory experiments and theoretical models to help understand these processes and thus the geophysical, environmental and engineering flows to which they are relevant.

Areas of current research include horizontal convection and stratified turbulent mixing.
