Research Interests
My main interests are in an interdisciplinary approach to the study of metamorphism and tectonic processes of the lithosphere. At the moment my research is focussed on subduction and exhumation of crustal rocks and includes the following topics:
- Investigation and sampling of high-pressure metamorphic rocks from former subduction zones during field work in the Western Alps and in New Caledonia.
- Experimental determination of phase stability and compositions in pelitic to gneissic systems from 20 to 45 kbar, 700-1100°C using piston cylinder apparatus.
- Micro-structural investigation of phase relations and metamorphic conditions of eclogite faciesrocks. Comparison of experimental results with natural rocks.
- Trace element partitioning between high pressure phases. Constraints on subduction zone fluids from natural rocks and experiments.
- Formation of metamorphic diamond in deeply subducted continental crust.
- Determination of exhumation rates by precise dating of zircon and titanite from high pressure rocks.
