Research Interests
PhD topic: The nature and origin of
Barrovian metamorphism
Interests: Tectonics, structural geology, crustal geodynamics,
geochronology, thermochronology and metamorphic petrology
Since beginning in 2005 I have completed two field seasons involving
structural mapping and sampling in Scotland. I have also carried out
a study on major element zoning in Barrovian garnets for the purpose
of estimating metamorphic heating durations.
In 2007 work will be carried out on the timing of Barrovian metamorphism
in Scotland (U-Pb SHRIMP dating) and the cooling history of the Barrovian
series (via Ar-Ar work on micas). A third field season is also a possibility.
