PRISE Prise is an externally funded group within the Research School of Earth Sciences. As the preferred vehicle for commercial and "commercial collaborative" projects in the areas of geochronology, isotope geochemistry and trace-element geochemistry, PRISE provides external access to the excellent facilities available at the School.
- PRISE provides access to the "state of the art" facilities available at the Research School of Earth Sciences. There are few organisations world wide that have under one roof the range of equipment and expertise available to PRISE. All equipment used is run and maintained at the highest possible standard.
- PRISE has a wide range of projects in progress on every continent. These arise from contracts and collaborations with a variety of people and organisations including universities, geological surveys, other government bodies and industry.
- PRISE scientific staff operate on three levels of confidentiality and collaboration, commensurate with client needs and budgets. Projects that are commercial in confidence remain the proprietary information of the client. Our staff are bound by that confidentiality. Commercial collaborative projects represent joint research between the client and PRISE staff. There is an expectation that such work leads to a scientific publication, with the PRISE collaborator as a co-author. PRISE scientists also carry out their own personal research programs. These may be in part funded by organisations with similar interests.
- PRISE provides a full confidential report of analyses performed and results obtained with all commercial work undertaken. In addition, where collaborative work is involved, PRISE will prepare any necessary results, photos and diagrams for publication in journals or presentation at conferences.
- PRISE scientists are happy to discuss any research you may have and to suggest a suitable, cost-effective program to meet your needs. Advice on sampling strategies, budgets and sample preparation is readily available. It is recommended that all preparation required for analyses, such as mineral separation or chemistry is done through the Research School of Earth Sciences.
