PRISE Analytical Techniques
Electronprobe microanalysis with PRISE PRISE has access to the RSES Cameca SX-100 electronprobe microanalyser. This is a state-of-the art instrument with 4 WDS spectrometers, EDS detector and fully quantitative analytical and imaging capability (back-scattered and secondary electron images, elemental X-ray mapping etc). We can perform EDS and full WDS analyses of geological materials with a spatial resolution of 2-3 µm. We specialise in major and minor element analysis of diamond indicator minerals (eg chromite, garnet, Cr-diopside, olivine, ilmenite etc) as well as a range of other geological materials. Elements analysed typically include but are not restricted to Si, Ti, Al, Cr, V, Fe, Mn, Zn, Ni, Mg, Ca, Na, K and P. Detection limits of the order of 100 ppm are achievable. More details about our electronprobe facility can be obtained from http://sx100.anu.edu.au/index.php?page=main or by contacting Greg Yaxley T: +61-2-6125-8334 M: 0416 249 493 |
