Changes for Graduate Research Students

As of 1 July 2008, PhD and Master of Philosophy students will be able to work full-time after they submit their thesis. Even if the student has an active eCoE, the course will be considered 'out of session' once the student has submitted their thesis. Below is the official advice from the Department of Immigration.

The Office of Policy and Regulation (OPAR) will receive the list of students who submit their thesis and report this on Provider Registration and International Students Management System (PRISMS) but this will not lead to cancellation of the student's eCoE therefore it won't affect the student's visa. OPAR will cancel the student's eCoE after the examination of their thesis is finalised and outcome letter is sent.
