Beaver Lake, Sunday, 30th December 2001

Strong 30 knot winds were blowing snow and ice crystals right through the day, although the sky was generally clear. Our plan to walk up to the GPS site had to be postponed. Comms improved considerably and VLZ Davis came through booming, and we discovered that two Squirrels from the Polar Bird would be arriving here in 15 minutes, despite the strong winds which were gathering in intensity. Ric and Kevin landed with four drums of ATK (Aviation Turbine kerosene) which was a tricky operation in the strong breeze. Despite the weather, they were very pleased to get here and there were handshakes a plenty. This was the first of three fuel loads for the Dalton Corner run and it was good that progress was finally being made.
