RSV Aurora Australis, Tuesday, 15th January 2002

I slept soundly, despite a wild party in D9, the next cabin which tailed off at about 5 in the morning. Today was again calm and flat, plenty of whales rolling around the ship. The Polar Bird could still be seen 5 nm behind. I think we were well clear of any ice now and the AA arked up it's number 2 engine, bursting ahead at 16 knots towards Hobart. In the afternoon did some laundry and pottered about the ship before we congregated in Anya's cabin for some pre-dinner drinks, followed by a hot Mexican sausage casserole. The evening passed away pleasantly, sipping wine at the bar and chatting about our "adventures" which had just concluded. Wine led to Cointreau later on. At last it was getting DARK at about midnight, almost a pleasant sight after seven weeks of daylight.
