RSV Aurora Australis, Monday, 21st January 2002

Another great day's sailing, with a nice warm breeze coming from the Australian continent, though quite overcast. Reading was the main activity of the day, getting up to page 850 of the novel Sarum and digesting a few tectonics papers in between. Some time was spent later on heated philosophical discussions in the bar, on various subjects over a few Chardonnay stubbies. Breakfast (supper) was enjoyed at 7.30. Oddly enough my affable cabinmates Gary and Levi (Met observer and comms rigger) have been accomplices in these late evening activities and our cabin (D 10) has been referred to as (D "tox") on account of the vapours emanating from it into the corridor. Well somebody did tell me that AA stood for Alcoholics Australis !
